AFC Board appoints new Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Scott Brubacher to the position of Executive Director beginning October 18, 2021. Dr. Brubacher will succeed the Rev. Canon Dr. Judy Rois who retires on October 15, 2021.

Archbishop Linda Nicholls, Primate, Anglican Church of Canada and Chair, AFC Board of Directors says, “Scott was selected following a thorough, national search process which resulted in a field of excellent candidates. The interest in the position was a testament to the outstanding reputation and leadership of AFC.”

Dr. Brubacher joined AFC in November 2015 as Executive Administrator. “Scott is no stranger to AFC. He brings with him a thorough knowledge of the work and vision of the Foundation,” says Archbishop Linda. “He is enthusiastic about the potential of AFC to build on the leadership and growth under the Rev. Canon Dr. Judy Rois.”

Brubacher, who holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of Toronto, is a passionate advocate for the role AFC can play as a catalyst for new ministry and growth. “I have seen and supported grant applicants across the country and know what is happening in different corners of the church. These are the stories that AFC can share—connecting people and projects from different parts of the country who are working towards the same goals in a way that few other institutions can.”

Since 1957 AFC has awarded more than $37 million in loans and grants to parishes for a variety of projects and has been a champion for diverse ministries across Canada. “As the Church faces new opportunities and challenges in the post-pandemic world,” says Archbishop Linda, “the vision and generosity of AFC will continue to support creative and innovative mission and ministry. We look forward to Scott’s leadership in partnership with the Board of Directors for this work.”
