December 15 at 7:00 p.m. – “The Holidays Can Be Hard” – a liturgy
“The Holidays Can Be Hard” is a liturgy acknowledging that Christmas can be a really tough season for many of us. The liturgy itself will run for just over 30 minutes, and then will be followed by a time of visiting and refreshment. Please contact us if you’d like to attend, so we can keep track of the contact tracing information.

December 18 at 7:00 p.m. – Hear the Silence
A meditative liturgy for the evening, built around music, prayer, readings and stillness, led by Gord Johnson. Many of the songs in which we enfold ourselves during “Hear the Silence” have simple melodies and deep words which are sung over and over, the repetition anchoring us in prayer. Be warned ahead of time: there is no communion, no sermon, no coffee hour, no big social focus… just an opportunity to come away into the stillness, move into a space of deep openness to the Spirit of God, and then go quietly into the evening’s darkness.
*Please note that incense is used in this liturgy.

St. George’s (Crescentwood)
December 19 at 7:00 p.m. – Annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
Come early and get a seat! The darkened church, decorated with poinsettias and garlands, is illuminated with the glow of candles. The service follows the form first sung in King’s College Chapel (Cambridge, England) in 1918, and through the reading of nine lessons, tells the story of the first days of our life on earth through to the glorious Redemption brought us by the birth of Christ. The readings are interspersed with appropriate choir carols and familiar Christmas hymns.
Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
