Fun Fair at St. Paul’s

On Sunday January 27, St. Paul’s Fort Garry held a Time and Talent Fun Fair. The goal was to highlight all the parish groups and outreach ministries at an after-service luncheon that included games, prizes and carnival-style food. Our goal is to find new energy for volunteer opportunities and to celebrate long standing commitments. This is one of several initiatives that Parish Leadership and the Outreach Committee are sponsoring as a response to our engagement with the Natural Church Development process.
During Advent, we held a “get to know you” turkey supper where newcomers were hosted and we all shared stories of how we came to St. Paul’s.
At the Fun Fair, 14 groups set up displays. We made passports that described each group or ministry. Everyone was given a passport and invited to visit each display and to collect stickers. Then they took their full passport to the prize table. People who could not stay for the event were encouraged to take their passport home.
Hot dogs, pogo dogs – a great hit – popcorn, candy, and ice cream made for a happy lunch, especially for the kids. We had a variety of games for all ages.
