Of the five exemplary citizens honoured on May 12, one name is well known in Anglican circles. Doreen Oliver, long-time resident of Selkirk, MB and parishioner of St. Peter, Dynevor received the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Historical Preservation and Promotion for life-long contributions to the heritage community.

During the LG's gold medalceremony, Lee told those gathered that “History is an essential part of our civilization. It’s a kind of collective memory, but it’s something much more than memory. It’s a foundation. . . ” http://www.manitobalg.ca  Family and friends gathered in support of the recipients could only agree with the LG’s sentiments. They have witnessed dedication, in most cases, for decades.
