Your continued generosity towards 1JustCity and Just a Warm Sleep has saved the lives of countless Winnipeggers.
Now, we want to take the next step in completing a $2M renovation that will upgrade our Just a Warm Sleep space we share with Oak Table.
Unfortunately, the arrival of COVID-19 in Manitoba delayed construction and raised costs. However, it gave us the opportunity to make life-saving changes to our plans so 1JustCity is always at the forefront of reducing illness amongst our already vulnerable population.
When you fundraise for Just a Warm Sleep, you’re helping us provide:
- Touchless faucets and toilets in a washroom with walls that are easy to spray down;
- washing and drying machines;
- an upgraded air circulation system;
- built-in hand sanitizing stations;
- a cell phone charging and disinfecting station;
- and industrial cleaning equipment, which will allow us to steam clean rather than use harsh chemicals.
The Sturgeon Creek Foundation has graciously supported our project by donating $20,000. When they heard we’d be short due to new COVID-19 costs, they said they’d match YOUR gifts for the months of December up to an additional $10,000.
Because of the Sturgeon Creek Foundation, your gifts double this December. Your generosity builds a new forever home for Just a Warm Sleep and Oak Table that’ll be the safest it can for those who desperately need it.
